From these open modules, Tori Kearns and Deborah Lee created an arranged open textbook for her introductory psychology class. This textbook was created under a Round One ALG Textbook Transformation Grant.5592018-09-07T17:22:10Z2024-01-22T14:52:15ZLearning Statistics with R: A tutorial for psychology students and other beginners<img alt="Read more about Learning Statistics with R: A tutorial for psychology students and other beginners" title="Learning Statistics with R: A tutorial for psychology students and other beginners cover image" class="cover " width="700" height="350" data-controller="common--cover" data-placeholder="/assets/common/placeholder-0e0607cbc50663ddb9e8fd188058bcd2630c730ef6ee322801278607b7d5af8e.png" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/redirect/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6NDgyLCJwdXIiOiJibG9iX2lkIn19--fd748bcb52ebaa08c105c5a6410ea1ae4ed6e56e/0000LearStatR.png" />Learning Statistics with R covers the contents of an introductory statistics class, as typically taught to undergraduate psychology students, focusing on the use of the R statistical software. The book discusses how to get started in R as well as giving an introduction to data manipulation and writing scripts. From a statistical perspective, the book discusses descriptive statistics and graphing first, followed by chapters on probability theory, sampling and estimation, and null hypothesis testing. After introducing the theory, the book covers the analysis of contingency tables, t-tests, ANOVAs and regression. Bayesian statistics are covered at the end of the book.5562018-09-07T17:22:10Z2024-01-22T14:51:58ZPersonality Theory in a Cultural Context<img alt="Read more about Personality Theory in a Cultural Context" title="textbook cover placeholder image" class="cover fallback " width="247" height="326" data-controller="common--cover" data-placeholder="/assets/common/placeholder-0e0607cbc50663ddb9e8fd188058bcd2630c730ef6ee322801278607b7d5af8e.png" src="/assets/common/placeholder-0e0607cbc50663ddb9e8fd188058bcd2630c730ef6ee322801278607b7d5af8e.png" />When you first think of personality, what comes to mind? When we refer to certain people as being “personalities,” we usually mean they are famous, people like movie stars or your favorite band. When we describe a person as having “lots of personality,” we usually mean they are outgoing and fun-loving, the kind of person we like to spend time with. But does this tell us anything about personality itself? Although we may think we have an understanding of what personality is, professional psychologists always seek to move beyond what people think they know in order to determine what is actually real or at least as close to real as we can come. In the pursuit of truly understanding personality, however, many personality theorists seem to have been focused on a particularly Western cultural approach that owes much of its history to the pioneering work of Sigmund Freud.5402018-09-07T17:22:08Z2024-03-18T13:06:41ZLifespan Development: A Psychological Perspective - Fourth Edition<img alt="Read more about Lifespan Development: A Psychological Perspective - Fourth Edition" title="Lifespan Development: A Psychological Perspective - Fourth Edition cover image" class="cover " width="759" height="979" data-controller="common--cover" data-placeholder="/assets/common/placeholder-0e0607cbc50663ddb9e8fd188058bcd2630c730ef6ee322801278607b7d5af8e.png" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/redirect/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6MTAyNjgsInB1ciI6ImJsb2JfaWQifX0=--146647bcbf09a3599f3ced439d1177218724477d/Screenshot%202023-11-01%20at%202.53.28%20PM.png" />Developmental Psychology, also known as Human Development or Lifespan Development, is the scientific study of ways in which people change, as well as stay the same, from conception to death. You will no doubt discover in the course of studying that the field examines change across a broad range of topics. These include physical and other psychophysiological processes, cognition, language, and psychosocial development, including the impact of family and peers.4312018-09-07T17:22:01Z2024-01-22T14:52:11ZResearch Methods in Psychology - 2nd Canadian Edition<img alt="Read more about Research Methods in Psychology - 2nd Canadian Edition" title="Research Methods in Psychology - 2nd Canadian Edition cover image" class="cover " width="625" height="809" data-controller="common--cover" data-placeholder="/assets/common/placeholder-0e0607cbc50663ddb9e8fd188058bcd2630c730ef6ee322801278607b7d5af8e.png" src="/rails/active_storage/blobs/redirect/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6MzYwLCJwdXIiOiJibG9iX2lkIn19--338566967949d29725b648f2d6ee08a579bfeb3f/0000ResMetCan.png" />The present adaptation constitutes the second Canadian edition and was co-authored by Rajiv S.
