Community

OER publishing can be complex and isolating, especially when you’re the only one doing the work. You don’t have to go it alone! 

Tea Time

Join our publishing community for Tea Time. It’s a bimonthly get-together for us to share our writing and publishing wins, struggles, and resources so that we can support one another. If you’re interested or involved in open educational publishing and practices, Tea Time is for you. These informal sessions are hosted by our OER Publishing Advisory Group.

Professional Development

We offer a variety of professional development opportunities to support your work in open publishing. We provide you with a solid foundation to write and publish open textbooks that are meaningful to your communities.

Pub101

We invite you to join us for Pub101, an informal, synchronous orientation to OER publishing based on our openly available curriculum. You’ll gain a helpful overview of what’s involved at the project and program level, all the while learning from thoughtful facilitators who are focused on your needs.

Pub101 for Authors

Invite your faculty to Pub101 for Authors, a customized experience that prepares educators for writing and publishing an open textbook. We can help you prepare your faculty for the creative and rewarding work ahead, so that you can focus on developing your local support.

The Pub101 curricula are maintained and revised by the Pub101 Committee, a group of experienced authors, publishers and Pub101 participants from across the network.

Certificate Pathways 

Join the Open Publisher or Open Author Pathway (or both!), and build practical skills and documentation to meet your publishing goals while earning a certificate. If you’re working at an Open Education Network institution, you’re eligible to complete our Certificate in Open Educational Pathways at a discount. Workshops

Our Train-the-Trainer workshop prepares you to deliver an engaging and informative OER Publishing Workshop to your faculty authors. The workshop equips authors to write an open textbook by keeping the process as simple and straightforward as possible. It uses the "building the case" methodology that's been proven effective in our adoption workshop. Learn more about our current workshops.






Infrastructure

As a member of the Open Education Network, you have access to tools that you can leverage for your local publishing context. However, tools can only do so much! We also offer practical support so that you feel confident using the tools and supporting your faculty.

    As a member, you can use the OEN’s Manifold instance for open educational practices and publications. We welcome you to join our friendly and active community of practice. Browse our Community Collection.

OER Publishing Advisory Group

The OER Publishing Advisory Group provides community, networking, guidance, and resources for people who are interested or engaged in OER publishing. We are committed to serving people at a variety of institutions and organizations, so that publishing may become possible for everyone with appropriate support.

Pub101 Committee

The Pub101 Committee ensures that the Pub101 curricula and experiences meet the open education community’s needs. The committee maintains the courses, organizes synchronous sessions and hosts engaging conversations with experienced practitioners.
