The goal of the textbook is to educate readers on what Artificial Intelligence is and its potential applications. It is also designed to teach readers how to use AI responsibly, which is essential in today’s educational environment. Based on a review of the general content and glossary, the textbook appears to provide in-depth coverage of the material it intends to address.

Content Accuracy rating: 5

The content appears to be accurate, error-free, and unbiased.

Relevance/Longevity rating: 5

Since the textbook covers Artificial Intelligence, which is a rapidly evolving field, some of the material may become outdated more quickly than desired. However, much of the terminology included in the text is foundational and is unlikely to become obsolete in the coming years. Additionally, the textbook appears to be structured in a way that would allow updates to be made easily as content changes over time.

Clarity rating: 4

Because Artificial Intelligence relies heavily on terminology, especially in an introductory textbook, the inclusion of key terms is expected. However, Part 1, Section 1 introduces a large number of terms at once. Presenting the terminology in smaller, more manageable segments throughout the text may make the material more reader friendly and help readers focus on understanding concepts rather than memorizing terminology.

Consistency rating: 4

The majority of the terminology appears to be concentrated in Part 1, Section 1, which may make it difficult for readers to remain engaged. While this section is intended to provide an understanding of Artificial Intelligence, distributing terminology and related expectations more evenly throughout the textbook could improve readability and reader engagement.

Modularity rating: 3

The Parts and Sections are lengthy, which may make it difficult to maintain reader attention. Breaking the sections into smaller subsections could improve readability and create a more manageable learning experience for readers.

Organization/Structure/Flow rating: 4

The textbook is organized logically; however, further division of the sections may help readers better process and understand the material. In its current format, the large amount of information presented within each section may feel overwhelming to some readers.

Interface rating: 5

No interface issues were identified during the review. Images and charts displayed properly, including when the browser window was resized.

Grammatical Errors rating: 5

There were no visible grammatical errors.

Cultural Relevance rating: 5

There was not culturally insensitive or offensive material in the textbook.

At this time, this is not a textbook I would choose for my course, primarily because it does not appear to be sufficiently reader friendly. Readers may feel overwhelmed by the lengthy sections and the large amount of terminology introduced early in the text, particularly in Part 1, Section 1.
