Text is clearly written and easy to understand. I would suggest a glossary of terms as the text is introductory.

Optimizing Population Health: Strategies for Advanced Level Nurses is set up in short, easy to read sections that would be easy to assign at different points in a course. It is also short and concise enough that it can be assigned as one reading assignment by itself for an excellent overview of population health.

I would personally organize the text a little differently, putting contemporary issues before strategies. That way all the varying issues incorporated in population health are introduced before strategies for addressing the issues. I would also include a brief summary chapter in the end that pulls all the information together.

Quite the opposite of being culturally offensive, this text provides references to promote cultural sensitivity.

I teach in a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. I found this text while looking for resources for my courses. I found Optimizing Population Health: Strategies for Advanced Level Nurses to be a very good overview of population health that might be more useful for a introductory course or prelicensure course. There are tons of resources, however, that make it an excellent quick and easy reference tool. I also appreciate that the authors mapped the chapter concepts to AACN competencies making it simple to utilize in course mapping!
