About the Contributors
Authors
Sagarika Mishra is an Associate Professor at Deakin Business School, with over 15 years of experience in research and teaching. Her research primarily spans the interface of accounting, finance, and marketing, with a special focus on corporate governance, climate-change reporting, and the impact of intangible resources (e.g., customer-centric culture, AI adoption). She employs novel empirical methods (including text-based analysis) to explore how financial constraints, working capital efficiency, and policy/regulatory environments influence firm performance, valuation, and disclosure quality—especially within emerging markets and family-owned businesses. Her interdisciplinary approach has fostered collaborations across finance, economics, accounting, and marketing, leading to publications in top-tier journals such as Journal of Banking & Finance, The Accounting Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and other. Sagarika has published in 7 A* journals and has garnered significant recognition for her contributions. Since 2018, she has secured $370,000 in external funding, underscoring her research's impact and relevance.
Dr. Hoa Nguyen is a Lecturer in the Department of Finance in Deakin Business School. Hoa holds a PhD in Finance from RMIT University. She specialises in
the area of corporate finance. Her research covers a number of corporate finance areas such as corporate risk management and IPOs among others. Hoa's teaching is also closely aligned with her research specialisation in the area of corporate finance. In 2017, she developed and taught the capstone unit for Finance major in the Bachelor of Commerce which aims to equip future Finance graduates with the knowledge and skills to get them workforce ready. She also provides leadership to the department's postgraduate programs in her role as course director for Master of International Finance and Master of Professional Accounting and Finance.
