In early April, the Open Education Network’s (OEN) Open Pedagogy Project Symposium showcased educational innovation and achievement – examples of fresh, outside-the-box teaching strategies made possible by open pedagogy. The OEN is pleased to highlight the action plans created by teams of dedicated faculty, librarians, instructional designers, and colleagues.

Hosted by Cindy Gruwell (she, her, hers) from the University of West Florida, this session explores why accessibility matters, accessibility best practices, tips for using accessibility checkers, and accessibility resources/training options.

The fourth synchronous session of Pub101 in 2025 welcomes Montana State University's Christina Trunnell who leads our discussion about ideas to create inclusion in open educational resources publishing. Today's session is hosted by Micah Gjeltema of the University of Minnesota.

Welcome to the third synchronous session of Pub101 in 2025. Hosted by Jessica McClean (she/her) of the University of Texas at Arlington, today's presentation features guest speaker Karen Meijer (she/her) of Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Karen brings more than 20 years of publishing experience to our discussion, including insight to help us integrate accessibility practices from the start, plan a structured, organized publication, and much more.

Hosted by Amanda C. Larson of Ohio State University, the second synchronous session of Pub101 in 2025 provides practical guidance for working with faculty authors. Iowa State University's Abbey Elder shares examples of positive and negative author-publisher relationships, recommendations for onboarding and communicating with authors, considerations when developing expectations for authors, and much more.

In our initial 2025 synchronous session, OEN Senior Director, Publishing, Karen Lauritsen extends a warm welcome to guests and provides a brief introduction to the Open Education Network. She also previews this year's Pub101 agenda while introducing common publishing models and open publishing resources available to everyone.

At Open Education Week 2025, the Open Education Network (OEN) and MIT OpenCourseWare (MIT OCW) are partnering to discuss two open educational resources as a way to highlight their respective collections. The March 7 online event, In the Living Room with the Open Education Network and MIT OpenCourseWare – Two Highlighted Resources, will feature one open textbook from the OEN’s Open Textbook Library and one example of an open course offered by MIT OCW.

This month, three community members begin two-year terms on the Open Education Network (OEN) Steering Committee. We are excited to welcome Andrea Bearman, Instructional Technology Coordinator at the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI); Bailey Lake, Open Strategies Librarian at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU); and Jennifer Pate, Director of Open Ed at Texas A&M University.
