Karen brings more than 20 years of publishing experience to our discussion, including insight to help us integrate accessibility practices from the start, plan a structured, organized publication, and much more.

Hosted by Amanda C. Larson of Ohio State University, the second synchronous session of Pub101 in 2025 provides practical guidance for working with faculty authors. Iowa State University's Abbey Elder shares examples of positive and negative author-publisher relationships, recommendations for onboarding and communicating with authors, considerations when developing expectations for authors, and much more.

In our initial 2025 synchronous session, OEN Senior Director, Publishing, Karen Lauritsen extends a warm welcome to guests and provides a brief introduction to the Open Education Network. She also previews this year's Pub101 agenda while introducing common publishing models and open publishing resources available to everyone. 

The May 29th session is our Pub101 2024 series finale. Hosted by Amanda Larson of Ohio State University, today's discussion features Abbey Elder of Iowa State University who offers practical guidance for working with faculty authors.

Pub101 is a free, informal, online orientation to open textbook publishing. This May 22, 2024, session is the 6th in our series this year. Host Cindy Gruwell of the University of West Florida welcomes guest speaker Amanda  Larson of Ohio State University for a discussion of open publishing models.
